'Deathly Hallows' Breaks IMax Record

In its opening weekend 'Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Part 1' grossed about $125 million. According to a RTT News article, as of Tuesday the 23rd the film had grossed $16.1 million worldwide in Imax theaters alone.

This breaks the record previously held by 'Alice in Wonderland' of $15.3 million which was released in March. In the 340 total IMax Theaters $11.8 million of the total was pulled in from domestic screening (239 theaters). The other $4.3 million was brought in by the 101 international IMax Screening.

The opening weekend total of $125 million surpasses the mark of any previous Potter film. No doubt this total will increase as fans go see the movie for a second, third, or even fourth time!
