Deathly Hallows Press Roundtable Interviews

Film 7 | No Comments | Posted By Alex | November 12th 2010

This morning The Remembrall, as well as other press and fansites, had a chance to sit down with Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Director David Yates and Producers David Baron and David Yates. Below are some of the more interesting points. We will have a full episode of Remembrall Live with the audio from the session in the next week.

Daniel Radcliffe

  • When he saw the dancing to Nick Cave scene in the tent with Hermione, he thought “This is the coolest Harry Potter has ever been, until he starts dancing.”
  • The movie wouldn’t work if it had to be one movie. Most of the scenes that would have been cut would have been in Part 1.
  • In regards to his fame – never Google yourself!
  • Tried to convince Chris Columbus to use his Dad for the Basilisk voice
  • In the early days, he use to go back to his hotel room and “charge around his hotel room having wand fights with nobody”
  • He thinks he is still as curious as when he was younger, but had managed to spread his energy out over one day, rather than just a few hours and then crash
  • College isn’t really an option for him, just wants to keep working
  • Japanese fans are the craziest

Emma Watson

  • The “MUDBLOOD” on Hermiones arm in the torture scene, was Helena and Emma’s idea, they even designed Ballatrix’s  handwriting
  • Spent 2 minutes of just screaming for that scene…her PA nearly ran in to save her!
  • The kiss scene was “not very nice” and an “out of body experience”
  • On Dan’s comments as her being a “fiery kisser”…..taking it as compliment
  • If she was to go back and be in a scene as a different character, she would love to go back and play a bad guy.
  • Went to Browne due to the ability to study lots of things (Major in History)….wanted to go somewhere different for a fresh start and not as famous
  • Just finished a new film, “My Week in Marilynn”
  • Thinking to keeping it to one film a year
  • Favourite scene with Ron is when they go and get the Basilisk fang in P2…revisit the Chamber of Secrets set!
  • The baby photos in Hermione’s house are really Emma…her Dad gave them to the studio.

Rupert Grint

  • Enjoyed being a stroppy git
  • About to start work on Eddie the Eagle Bio-Pic
  • Has a lot of animals, including most recently, miniature donkeys
  • Lots of crying on the last day of filming
  • Found it hard to teach his mannerisms to the actor that played his Polyjuiced character
  • Does not like the idea of directing, found teaching the above very hard.
  • Took the number of the Dursleys house to keep.

Tom Felton

  • When asked about David Yates, he called him “very approachable and involving of the cast”
  • On his last day he just shook everyone’s hand and walked out….hasnt hit him yet that its over
  • Started his own music production company, “Six String Productions” and would consider doing a musical like Dan.
  • Currently working on a “Planets of the Apes” sequel
  • Filming with his “son”, Scorpius, was very strange. At casting of his son, it was in the same room that he was casted in 11 years ago….same chair and everything
  • Got to keep his Slytherin ring
  • Regrets not taking more pictures

David Yates

  • When asked about doing the 4 films, he compared it to “running 4 marathons” and how Deathly Hallows took 263 days to shoot.
  • He tried to get John Williams to come back and do the score for Part 2, but due to the composers schedule, he would only be able to score a rough cut of the film, which in David’s eyes was not acceptable.
  • There is still a possibility of some reasons happening in the next couple of months
  • When asked about the 3D conversion he said that nearly 300 shots from P1 were converted to a good enough standard, but they needed another 3 months to finish it off so plug was pulled. Likely that it will be done at some point (3D Blu-Ray special?)
  • Last day of filming was just the trio on a viaduct at Hogwarts holding hands
  • He thought himself as a curator of these films not the owner

David Heyman & David Baron

  • If Jo writes more Potter, they would make the film.
  • The audio from the set of the first 2 films was unusable as Chris Columbus was telling the young trio how to act most of the time.
  • They would both like to know what pills David Yates is on to endure such a stint!
  • Had no compliant (yet!) from excluded British actors

The special episode of Remembrall Live with all these reviews will be out very soon, and be sure to check out our Red Carpet footage from the Premiere last night!
