Half-Blood Prince shortlisted for an Academy Award

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been selected as a semifinalist for Achievement in Visual Effects for the 82nd annual Academy Awards.

The film is competing against 15 other contesters, all which were selected by the members of the Academy’s Visual Effects Branch Executive Committee.  In January, the list shall be narrowed down to seven films.  Futhermore, out of these seven, three will be nominated for the final Oscar consideration. The Award nominations will be announced on February 2nd.

The ceremony will be held on March 7th and will be televised live by the ABC Television Network.
